Hayate volume 6 review
This is probably the only volume (so far) that has a storyline that actually continues throughout the volume. Every volume prior to this one had short stories/mini adventures of Hayate and gang, but this volume features a continuous story. The story continues from volume 5 where Hayate is training Nagi for the School Marathon. Hayate and Nagi enter together as contestants for the marathon knowing that losing is not an option as Hayate's job is on the line and the winning prize of 150 Million Yen is too much to pass by for the in-debt butler. Yet, there will be obstacles to this as Hina is aiming to grab every 1st place and her money crazed sister is burning to win the race. After the race is completed, Hayate has to undergo "butler" training (buy the manga to find out what happens to the race as I won't spoil anything major). Hayate must train to become a suitable butler and one of the things he has to do is go to a dungeon that features ghosts and monsters. He must choose his companions wisely as he must finish his task in order to keep his job as butler. The comedy still works even though it has been 6 volumes into the series. Though I still hold volume 1 in higher regards, I had a great deal of laughs while reading vol 6, however there are some scenes that were cheesy but that those serve as nuisance.Definitely pick this up if you have been reading the series. For those who are just starting to get interested, pick up volume 1, otherwise you will be lost while reading this vol. Recommended for ages 10+
